In February, 1951, years before Eastern Market Metro station arrived, this was the view facing east at the intersection of Seventh Street, D Street, and South Carolina Avenue SE. Even earlier (1903-1935), Norman Tucker's grandfather and his brother ran a store in the corner building, 701 D Street SE. The other side of the building, where the family lived, used 400 Seventh Street SE as its address.
