Description provided by Sharon L. Lewis:
Sam Richardson and Lou Croci (at the Exxon station, Fourth Street and Pennsylvania Avenue SE).
Lou Croci arrived from Italy "with $3.00 in my pocket. I now have $4.00." The extra dollar was earned by giving Capitol Hill residents and their cars first rate, reliable service, first at Second and M Streets SE (Navy Yard) and, since 1971, at the present location. Married for 52 years, Louie has two daughters.
Sam has been with Louie for 36 years, "with only five days work lost in that time." Gas prices will rise and fall but Capitol Hill residents will know that Louie and Sam will be there to take care of us.
Note: Since Lou Croci's death, his daughter Gina has continued the family tradition.
